New in Profit 1

New interface

A new user experience

Profit 1 is the successor to Profit 22 and works even easier and more intuitively. We opted for change, modernisation and simplicity. This will give you more insight and help you find what you are looking for faster. Efficiency and ease of use were our guiding principles when developing this new version of Profit. On this page, we will show you the new interface, which, of course, is used throughout Profit.

The changes only concern the interface (appearance and operation) and not the functionality. So Profit still has the same to offer, and of course some cool enhancements and improvements that you can read more about on other pages. Do not forget to read the release notes too!

You will see two videos below: a short introduction to Profit 1 and a longer video of the AFAS Open.

Easy logging on in an environment

You come across Profit's new, modern styling right from the login screen. The environment you last used is automatically selected. Press Enter and you are in Profit. Do you want to open a different environment? You can easily search the list as the description and name of the environment are now always displayed. Enter the name or description to search.

Getting started quickly with Profit Home

Once logged in, you always come to Profit Home, a completely new section! This is your personal springboard for your work. On the left, you see notifications from all kinds of different parts of Profit. These are brought together in one place here so you can take immediate action. You no longer have to go to different functions to see the notifications. When you click a notification, the corresponding function opens and you can take quick action. Of course, you only see notifications you have rights to. When the mouse hovers on a notification, you can remove without opening the function by clicking on the check mark on the right (this works for all notifications except the Finance Auditor).

Once you have started a function, Profit Home is no longer displayed, but you can open Profit Home again on your screen in no time with the corresponding button (top left) or with the shortcut Ctrl+H.

You already know the Favourites and History from previous versions of Profit. They have only been given another place. And, of course, they look cooler! From 25 November 2023, you will also see Favourites on the left side of the Start menu, under the menu items General, CRM, Financial, etc. If you want to maintain Favourites, always do so via Profit Home.

At the bottom left, you will see the current AFAS Status. Click this to open AFASStatus.nl.

Zooming in and out

You now control how much you see on the screen. This setting is always accessible and you can adjust it in no time at all.

Another great feature: Profit in Dark mode. This gives Profit a dark background colour, which is very nice if you have to work in the dark. It also saves energy and, of course, looks fantastic. According to Product Manager Bart, it even looks sexy, that's how beautiful software can be. Unfortunately this is not incuded in the software rightaway, we're working hard to make this available. Please be patient, it's coming your way!

Environment and administration

At your name and photo, you will now see the active environment and administration. Click the administration if you want to switch to another administration.

Quickly find and launch a function with Spotlight

Spotlight is a super handy and quick way to launch a function. Press Ctrl+Space, enter the function name, select it and press Enter.

You may notice that the menu at the top has disappeared, but you can, of course, still launch functions via the familiar shortcuts. If you press Alt, you will see the keyboard shortcuts in the menu on the left. For example, press Alt+H, M, M to launch the Employee function.

Two screens side by side with Split Screen

Sometimes it is convenient to put two screens side by side. And you can do that, simply by dragging the relevant tab to the center of the screen and then releasing your mouse button in the blue box. You can also drag the separation between the right and left screens. This cool new functionality will be available starting Oct. 13, 2023.

Splitting works for all screens except the Authorization tool.

Views more user friendly

The views have become calmer and are better organised. A view is always displayed full screen when you start a function. The fixed line height has been increased, which increases the readability of the lines.

You will probably see fewer action buttons than you are used to, as only the most important actions are shown. The New action is always displayed. Other actions can be found under the Actions or More Actions button. The familiar shortcuts have, of course, remained and these are shown with the action. You can find the Totaliser, Excel export and display blocked lines under the cogwheel on the top right.

If your view contains a status, you will now see the status colour in the view as well. This applies not only to supplied statuses, but also to custom tables (to the extent that you are allowed to maintain them). Therefore, if you linked a colour to a custom table value, you will always see the colour in the view.

You switch views by clicking the view name. The filter makes it easy to search for the right view. If you are allowed to customise views, you will also find the Manage views choice here. This choice is only relevant to administrators, which is why you no longer see it prominently displayed.

Filter in a view

Of course, the quick filter still works as you are used to, but all the other filter items are under the separate filter button. This is where you create a new filter and find your saved filters.

With a custom filter, the option to start a view with a filter is missing because from now on a view will always start with the filter you last applied. In the view itself, the columns that have been filtered upon are shown with a red icon. So you can always see that the filter is active. Still see everything? You disable the filter in an instant with Ctrl+L or viaDisable filter in the filter menu.

Properties

A property screen is always displayed in the same way, across the full width of your screen. Do you want to go immediately to a specific tab? Start typing immediately and the tab will be filtered so that you can easily select it. If the property screen has actions, these are now listed on the left under the Actions header.

As you can see, we have given these screens a modern look and feel. We looked critically at the banner at the top and here we show the most important information and, if relevant, a logo or photo.

In some functions, the order of fields and the layout of tabs have been optimised. You will find the changes in the Profit 1 release notes.

Minimise pop-up screens

You can minimise pop-up screens such as wizards and search views. This allows you to consult the underlying screen. Click the button below to minimise the screen (Ctrl+Shift+M).

This cool new functionality will be available from 23 October 2023.

Wizard

When creating a new entry, you will always get a new wizard. It too has been given a fixed location and fixed size on the screen so that each wizard looks the same. You can now maximise any wizard, wherever you are in Profit. At the top right, you will see the number of steps required to complete the wizard.

Not all fields are immediately visible due to simplicity and having a well organised display. Certain fields are from other fields such as the Record address field in the example below. Only when you select this field, will the address fields be displayed.

Entry layout

With a new entry you will first get the selection screen (if applicable), then you can immediately start working on the entry. The familiar header, lines and tail sections have of course remained, but only the section you are working in is active. For example, if you are working on an entry line, then header and tail are displayed in a compressed form. So you can see more clearly where you are working, and header and tail take up less space. If you want to change something in the header, just click in that area. The header becomes active and other parts become inactive.

View PDF attachment in booking window

You can view PDF attachments to an entry line through a separate area on the right. You only see the PDF of the selected line. If there are multiple attachments, click on the desired attachment at the top to view it. This cool new functionality will be available starting Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023.
